I don't use the newsletter facility, so I've disabled Mage_Newsletter in System -> Configuration -> Advanced. This removed the newsletter signup boxes on the store's web pages.
However, the Create An Account form for new customers still shows a "Subscribe to Newsletter" tick box in it, plus there's a "You are not subscribed to any newsletters.' section in the customer's My Account screen.
As we don't offer a newsletter, this will be confusing to customers. Shouldn't there be a simple "Enable/Disable" link for the newsletter, where the "Disable" setting will clear all references to the newsletter from the site? At the moment, disabling Mage_Newsletter does not remove all newsletter references.
